11 Second Club Entry

I submitted an 11 Second Club entry for the first time about 5 years ago.
It was a bit rushed..  and i came 51st out of 233 entries.
I was quite please with myself.
The audio this time was from Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back.
Nothing came to mind straight away but after a few more listens I saw something along the lines of the sketches below and jumped in. It was quite ambitious (as usual), a tiger may not have been the best choice but the combination of the stripes and shadows were quite effective. The voters liked it enough at least.. I came 1st :O

Here is the entry I submitted.
I also put a video together to show a bit of my process making this shot.
I know some of you would be interested to see it.

Something a little different

No doodles this time. Here's some animation I did way back in 2011. I've been waiting to see this show since I finished on the project and I finally found it on Youtube! The quality isn't perfect but you get the idea.
It was a really fun project to work on and Luxanimation we're one of the best to work for. This season of Babar actually came in on schedule.

Lefty Doodles

A week after Joe Weatherly's workshop I had a go at drawing some animals i'd seen on the course from memory but to make things interesting I used my weak hand.

Joe Weatherly Animal Drawing Workshop - London

It's been over a year since my last post and I have neglected posting for too long. It's also been a while since I went out to draw so this workshop with Joe Weatherly was just what I needed to get me back on track.
For me, the 4 day workshop focused on observation, construction and the subtleties of animal anatomy. Even though the sketches were for exploration and for working things out I thought it would be nice to post a bunch.

We started at the National History Museum...

Then off to London Zoo for two days...

30 Days

Here it is! It was a long 30 days but it's finally over. Hope you enjoy :)

It was difficult to even think of what to animate most days. I spent a few hours on average for each day, sometimes it felt like all day. I originally intended to do them quicker but they usually didn't get going till the late evening. This also meant all the days where only 'first passes' or 'straight aheads'. After the first 5 days I realised I should try to maintain a reasonable quality. It wasn't easy, a lot of time was spent hitting a wall but I had fun trying something different everyday.

30 days of animation

This month I decided to animate something everyday for 30 days.
Having fun so far!

The Night Light Monster

Most of my time last year was spent animating on this short film directed by Nicola Coppack.
The style of the film and other team members made this a really nice project to work on.
Here is a short clip from the film.
